Human Factors, The Science of Being Human

Human Factors training is the foundation of aviation's stellar safety record and efficiency. General industry can benefit just as much from this training, and yet most of the industry does not even know that it exists. Bring the safety, efficiency, attention to detail, and productivity of aviation to your business through Human Factors training.

In this two-day course, we focus on the twelve most influential factors that affect human performance and behavior, known as the Dirty Dozen. These include; Lack of Teamwork, Lack of Communication, Lack of Assertiveness, Fatigue, Stress, Pressure, Distractions, Lack of Awareness, Lack of Knowledge, Lack of Resources, Norms, and Complacency. We not only cover the effects these factors have on us, we also provide tools and techniques to manage and or mitigate the effects of these factors.

An accident is never caused by a single event or incident; there will always be a chain of events that leads up to the accident. An error is never the cause of an accident. The cause is to be found in whatever interfered with a person's performance at a critical moment, the outcome of which was an error. (Jerome Lederer, President Emeritus, Flight Safety Foundation). And that interference will most certainly have been one of the Dirty Dozen. With a firm understanding of the principles of Human Factors, it is possible to break the chain of cause and effect that leads to accidents, injuries, and inefficiency. Back:
